President Uhuru Kenyatta's men have revealed the radical plan he had put in place to dilute Ruto's influence in the Mt Kenya region.

Led by Agriculture CS Peter Munya, the state functionaries revealed that the Head of State has laid down an elaborate plan to counter Ruto come January come next year.

Munya revealed that the plan entails involving state mandarins drawn from the region like Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and head of parastatals in hitting the ground to popularize President Uhuru Kenyatta and enumerating his achievements to the electorate in the region.

"As the region's leaders, our role shall be to deliver the message to the people as from next year," Munya said.

The lastest plan is said to be President Uhuru's plan to pave way for Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga in the region ahead of the 2022 General elections.

This comes after the President has publicly shown signs that he favours Raila as his successor and not his deputy Ruto.

Munya said that they will also explain to the voters from the Central Kenya the importance of turning out in large numbers to vote come 2022. This is occasioned by fears of voter apathy fueled by the region's lack of a formidable presidential candidate.

"We want to ensure that the region delivers a commanding number of votes in next year’s polls," the CS said.

While dismissing those ciriticizing them for participating in politics, Munya said that they (CSs and other public servants) won't be intimidated and denied the rights to participate in politics.

“I have been in politics for a long time and no one holds the monopoly of engagement as far as the 2022 general election is concerned,” he added.

Munya was speaking at Kagio, Kirinyaga County where he met 35`0 representatives from 10 Mt Kenya Counties alongside Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

On his side, Kibicho warned politicians and leaders from trying to divide the region ahead of General Elections. He also revealed that starting January, more state officials will embark on sensitization programmes in the region geared at guiding locals on the right people to vote in during the upcoming elections.

“We need to put our house in order early enough so that our people will not vote blindly. As a result, we need from January to start  sensitising them on the need to ask the right questions to politicians who are begging for their votes," Kibicho said as reported by a local publication.

Kibicho further insisted that the region will only follow the President's political direction ahead of the General Election.

“The president's position is standard and everything he orders us to do, we shall dutifully do," he said .

The new plan to depopularize Ruto in Mt Kenya comes amid fears with President Uhuru's camp that the DPs bottom-up economic model is gaining ground in the region.
