Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha now says there is no reason anyone should deny the government any piece of land that belongs to the public.

Speaking at Pumwani Boys High School in Nairobi, the CS said the Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Wainaina had no reason to question the decision of the Cabinet to hive part of the institution's land for development.

"The government may decide that this school, the site is good for a nuclear facility, once it passes through the cabinet, who do you think you are that you are going to say you are not going to follow," he said.

Land belongs to government

He added: "I do not want to pronounce myself more than that, all land belongs to the government and when they decide to use it for another purpose there is a manner in which it is taken."

Magoha further said he had nothing to do with what the VC is going through, saying he only acts on the instructions given by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Everything I do is for the general public starting with being obedient to my employer and serving the children, I am appointed to do my job by the President whom I take directives.

"Government owns everything and if by the wisdom of the government which is headed by the President who works with cabinet ministers including the deputy president, pronounces itself in a manner that you feel repugnant to you as a person, the most honorable thing is to walk away," he stated.

Wainaina on Tuesday, July 12 announced that he had been sacked and the university council replaced after they refused to hand over part of the institution's land to the government for World Health Organisation to develop an emergency hub.
