National Super League gathering momentum, a number of matches are expected to illuminate a rather busy weekend.

League leaders APS Bomet will be away to play seventh Kibera Black Stars and it remains to be seen what is up the sleeves of their newly-hired coach.

Charles Odero formerly of Muhoroni Youth FC will be handling the law enforcers as they seek to win their tenth match of the season.

Both sides will be filing onto the pitch with the pride of having won their last matches and while APS Bomet prevailed 1-0 over  Fortune Sacco 1-0 , the slum-boys earned a convincing 5-2 victory over Dandora Love.

Kibera Black Stars who are on 22 points have won three home games at their Camp Toyoyo home ground and would wish to add Bomet in the list of their victims.

Stars have never lost to APS Bomet in their past three meetings and this is a record they would wish to safeguard.

Meanwhile, second placed Fortune Sacco will be angling for recovery after their midweek loss to leaders APS Bomet as they host ninth place D Zoo FC at Kianyaga Stadium in Kerugoya.

Zoo owe their fans an improved performance after falling 1-0 to Gusii FC who will be having a tough assignment when they host Shabana today in Awendo.

Fortune Sacco have had an inconsistent run lately with only two points gained in their last three matches and victory against the Kericho side will help cool their nerves.

The big derby pitting neighbors Shabana and Gusii FC is expected to draw a large crowd given that both teams enjoy popularity in equal measure.

However, statistics between the two in the standings are worlds apart and while Gusii are placed in the 16th position, Shabana, under the tutelage of Sammy Okoth, are sixth and thats why the latter are considered firm favourites.

Tore Bobe,  as are popularly known, are expected to draw great inspiration from Okoth’s pre-match pep talk and the fact that he does not fail to point out any frailty seen in past matches.

“We need to do better in terms of hunger and approach. Sometimes we concede poor goals and these are some of the things we’ve been trying to address,” said Okoth.

He added:” It is important to focus and take our chances. I know our next game will be tough because they are familiar opponents but we will go full throttle in search of maximum points,” said Okoth.

In another match, Premiership contenders Murang’a Seal face Naivas FC in a potential thriller at the latter’s backyard at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a.

The two frontrunners are two points aparts and whoever will win the match will have broken a lot of sweat.

Seal are on 27 points with two wins and two ties in their last five matches with a goal difference of +5 while the supermarket side is on 25 points with a goal difference of +6 and two wins in the past five matches.

Elsewhere at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Kisumu All-Stars, who have a new tactician in George Ondula will host Mwatate United who are gracing the basement of the league.

Otenga, as All Stars are colloquially known as, are currently 12th on the leg with 19 points with only one win in the last five matches and thus need to pull up their socks to revert the trend.
