Makutano-Embu highway which cuts across Mwea Constituency in Kirinyaga county will be closed tomorrow in a bid to ease traffic during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang'uru Stadium.

Members of the public, who are not invited to the national celebrations, will not be able to access the highway as it will be closed at Makutano all the way to Samson Corner.

According to Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga, motorists plying that route will use alternative routes.

"Vehicles coming from Nairobi heading to toward Embu County and other areas are requested to use the Sagana route while the ones leaving Embu should use the Samson Corner Kutus route," Nyagwanga said.

He said the affected routes will be manned by police officers to ensure that there is order amongst motorists.

"When we have visitors we have to be disciplined and I have also requested our colleagues from the Eastern region to assist in controlling the Miraa vehicles. We don't want to see them speeding," he added.

The regional boss was addressing the media at Ngurubani town ahead of tomorrows Mashujaa Day Celebrations.

In a stadium with a capacity of over 10, 000 people, only 3, 000 people will be allowed in.
