The ruling Jubilee party has dismissed the results of the Just concluded Kiambaa by-election where its candidate lost.

Jubilee’s Kariri Njama lost to the UDA’s John Njuguna Wanjiru with a margin of about 500 votes.

In a statement released on Monday, the National Management Committee (NMC) of the party stated that they will be seeking legal redress aimed at ensuring vote recount is done.

NMC says it is not satisfied with the manner in which the IEBC conducted the mini-poll.

We wish to categorically state that we are dissatisfied with how the IEBC managed the by-election, particularly the tallying process. We demand a recount of the vote and will in the coming days pursue this,” a statement by NMC stated.

However, the NMC expressed gratitude to the campaign team that managed the by-election saying they did a commendable job.

Njama was equally lauded for putting a spirited fight in the mini-poll that was fashioned as a duel between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

“We thank the people of Kiambaa for their patience and for turning up to exercise their democratic right to vote. We also thank our candidate, for his dedication, resilience and persistence throughout the campaign period. We are also indebted to our campaign teams, volunteers and well-wishers who encouraged and cheered us on,” the party added.

Jubilee party at the same time warned of many fake social media accounts that are being used to spread malicious information against its candidate and also the party at large.

The party says those behind the fake accounts will be held responsible for their actions hinting that they will be pursuing legal action against them.

“We note with concern that there are many fake accounts being used to disseminate misinformation with the aim of creating conflict and crisis in the Party. We are escalating this to ensure that those who are responsible are exposed,” read the statement.

The ruling party NMC has also announced that it will soon roll out a program that seeks to rejuvenate the party at the grass-root level, a move aimed at reviving the party’s dwindling political fortunes.
