Kiambu allocates Sh50m for El Nino

Kiambu county is fully prepared to mitigate and manage any eventuality that may arise as a result of the expected El Nino rains, area governor Kimani Wamatangi has said.

He said a disaster Rapid Response Team has been formed and Sh50 million allocated to cater for it.

“We shall have people drawn from the County Commissioner’s office, the police, water department and the county assembly whose duty will be to respond to any reported disasters,” he announced.

Wamatangi has also revealed his administration has sets aside Sh1 billion to ensure residents are connected to clean drinking water in their households.

The money will see over 8,000 new water connection to homestead and offer facilities with close to 60,000 households getting connected with piped for domestic use.
