The National Assembly’s Communication, Information, and Innovation Committee has expressed its commitment to fast-track the passing of the Technopolis Bill once it’s presented in Parliament.

The bill aims to support the development of the Konza Technopolis, a flagship project of Kenya’s Vision 2030. The Cabinet approved the Technopolis Bill, upgrading the legal framework governing Konza Technopolis, and the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KTDA).

By formalizing its legal status under an Act of Parliament, the institution will be able to undertake similar smart city projects across the country. The Bill is expected to be transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration, and the committee has pledged to expedite its passage.

“As a committee we are assuring you of our commitment to ensure the Bill is passed within the shortest time possible once it is tabled in the House,” Hon. John Kiarie, Chairman of the committee said during an inspection tour of Konza Technopolis.

The authority is currently in an accelerated development phase, with a focus on delivering the first phase of the project on target.
