Maseno School tops Nyanza old luminaries
Secondary schools in Nyanza region posted good results in last year’s Form Four examination.
Top performers included Maseno School, Mbita High, Orero Boys, Kanga High, St Albert’s Ulanda Girls, St Joseph’s Rapogi and Rabondo High School.
In Kisumu County, celebrations rocked Maseno School as students and teachers toasted to sterling performance by last year’s candidates, many who attained university entry grades.
In Homabay County, Mbita High School registered 16 As and 73 A minus, 103 B plus, 96 B plain, 94 B minus, 36 C plus and only one C minus.
The school’s Principal Kennedy Ojijo was overjoyed with the good results. He attributed it to God.
“We want to thank God for the impressive performance, we have posted,’’ said Ojijo.
He thanked teachers for their hard work and parents and students for their cooperation which he said led to the good performance. The result showed that 420 out of 424 attained university entry grades.
In Migori county, Kanga High school, Kanyawanga, St Josephs Rapogi High school, Ulanda Girls and Rabondo secondary school also posted impressive results.
Orero High School in Homa Bay county registered a mean grade of 9.2885 with one student scoring a straight A, 58 scoring A minus, 149 with B plus and 186 with B plain.
The school Principal Dickens Bula attributed the excellent performance to co-operation between the Board of Management, parents and students.
“The collaboration between the entire school community enabled us to achieve the excellent performance,” Bula said.
Bula also attributed the results to hard work among students and teachers.
“ We were able to achieve the good results due to early completion of the syllabus and the hard work of our students,” Bula said.
At Oriwo Boys’ High School, the school got a mean score of 7.972. Four students got A minus, B Plus (53), B Plain (139), B minus (244), C Plus (175), C plain (33), C minus- (10) and D minus (1).
Oriwo Principal Henry Airo thanked his teachers, BOM and parents for their co-operation that enabled the achievement.
“Their hard work, commitment and collaboration truly paid off. Let this success be a testament to the collective efforts that make our educational community thrive,” Airo said. Asumbi Girls secondary school also continued to post good performance at the KCSE examinations.
It had a mean score of 10.37 being one of the top best girls performing schools in Homabay county.
In the 2023 examinations the school saw all the candidates registered getting grade C+ and above in the KCSE exams and will proceed to university in 2024.
Agoro Sare High school was also ranked among the top performing schools nationally after garnering a Mean Score of 8.935 points which translates to a mean grade of B{plain}. The school has been doing well over the years.
Kanga High schools also did so well again. This time round it posted Kanga High School recorded an impressive result in the 2023 KCSE exams. The school recorded a mean score of 9.2445 points which is a B (plain).
Out of the 409 candidates who sat for the 2023 KCSE exams, a total of 374 candidates attained the direct university entry grade. This translates to 91 percent direct entry.
In Rift Valley, Tenwek High School registered 20 steaight As, 70 A minus, 103 B Plus and 102 B Plain. 55 candidates scored B minus while 32 candidates managed a C Plus.
At Baringo High School, seven candidates managed straight As, with 22 others scoring A minus. 47 candidates scored B Plus while 63 had B Plain.
