A Nairobi court yesterday granted police 14 days  to investigate award-winning Safari Rally driver Maxine Wahome over the alleged murder of her boyfriend and colleague rally driver Asad “Kalulu” Khan.

When the matter came up for mention before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, Senior State Prosecutor James Gachoka informed the court that police needed 14 days to investigate the matter since the victim Khan has since died.

“Your honour we are not investigating the previous offence of grievous harm because the victim  has since died,” said the prosecutor.

He told the court that police were yet to receive a DNA report from the  Government Chemist as well  as  get furnished with the scene of crime report before making any decision on the matter.

“The circumstances in this investigation have changed following the death of Assad last December. Maxine is now being investigated for murder and grievous harm. I request the matter to be mentioned in 14 days,” Gachoka told the court.

Maxine’s lawyer Steve Kimathi said his client had complied with the court directions and that she has been reporting to DCI offices every Thursday.
