MP claims colleagues received Ksh100, 000 each to pass Political Parties Bill
Endebess Member of Parliament Robert Pukose has said that the supporters of the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2021 were all bribed with Ksh100,000 each to pass it.
Addressing his constituents in Endebess on Sunday, Pukose said the Bill has ill-motives and is meant to paralyze Deputy President William Ruto's chances of assuming the presidency in August.
"As the supporters of the DP, we are prepared to ensure that the Bill does not go through because it is meant to weaken political parties internal democracy," Pukose said.
The second term lawmaker further said they will not be coerced to support the Bill and vowed that a legal team has been prepared just in case the matter ends up in court.
"Even if the bill is pushed through the back door, we will proceed to Kenyan courts to seek justice," he added.
The Bill has divided lawmakers into two factions with DP allied legislators saying they will do anything possible to stop it on Wednesday this week.
Last week, acts of violence were witnessed on the floor of the National Assembly when Minority Leader John Mbadi punched Soin/Sigowet MP Bernard Koros in the face.
