COVID-19: Curfew period revised, political rallies suspended

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday revised curfew period from 11 pm-4 am to 10 pm-4 am in order to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The President also suspended political gatherings for 60 days after holding sixth extra-ordinary summit with governors.
"Those wishing to have such meetings should do them in town halls and limit attendees to a third of the capacity of the halls," he reiterated.
On schools, the President said they will re-open fully in January 2021 and directed Members of Parliament (MPs) to work with schools in their constituencies to avail handwashing stations.
He directed Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries to scale down physical engagements and work remotely.
The number of people attending churches and funerals has been retained at 200.
Other Measures
- All bars, restaurants and other establishments must close by 9 pm. All operators of hotels, bars and eateries that sell alcohol must ensure enhanced compliance with Ministry of Health protocols on COVID-19. Those who fail will have their businesses shut down.
- Any indoor gatherings to hold only up to a third of its ordinary sitting capacity.
- People must wear facemasks to be served in any government and private facility.
- Counties to announce lockdowns or other restrictions as it may deem necessary.
- All basic education learning to resume learning in January 2021.
- A special security unit comprising of the National Police Service, the Administration Police and County Inspectorate officers to be formed to enforce the containment measures
