Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) will start the second phase of rehabilitating houses in city estates. In a statement, NMS said the second stage will end in December.

“We are set to commence the second phase anytime soon. Arrangements have been put in place to ensure this exercise is completed on time,” the statement said.

Part of the renovations that started in February includes repainting and repairing of buildings. The first phase saw 760 housing units in four estates renovated.

They are Kariobangi South, Buruburu, Kariokor and Jamhuri. At least 2,000 houses have been earmarked for a facelift in the project to renovate old and dilapidated houses.

NMS Director-General Lt-General Mohammed Badi said they are targeting Uhuru and Outering estates in the next phase.

Uhuru has 884 units while Outering has 360.
