During the sitting which will also be open to members of the public, leaders and the public will have an opportunity to eulogize the fallen former president.

Nyeri Speaker on mourning Kibaki

Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia said it is by doing so that the people of Nyeri, where the late president comes from, will feel they have been given a chance to mourn him.

He also asked the national government to involve the County leadership in the ongoing burial preparations noting that attempts by the county governor to participate in the preparations were watered down.

"As of now, we don't seem to feel the involvement. We don't have many activities on the ground and we don't have much that is going on here from the national government.

"All that we have seen is when our governor tried to raise an issue on how he wanted issues managed on this site or the input of the county government, but we had a bit of belittling messages coming from the National government. We want them to bring the county government on board," Kaguchia said.

He said political inclinations and alienations should be put aside and people should come together and celebrate the life of a man many people consider a hero.

He also said the national government should not have the body of the former President flown to Othaya but it should be transported on road and pass by all constituencies in Nyeri town in order to allow many who will not be able to travel to Parliament to view his body get a chance to bid him goodbye.

Kibaki's body has been lying in state in parliament since Monday, April 25.

"We are urging the government not to flow his body to Othaya but instead bring it by road and allow people from different counties have a chance to celebrate his life and also bid him farewell and this will enable healing," he said.
