Police Sacco donates materials for fighting coronavirus to members

The Kenya Police Sacco has provided materials for fighting coronavirus to its Trans Nzoia members.

The Sacco chairman David Mategwa said the donation of 2,000 face masks, 280 pieces of 250 ml sanitizers , and 4,000 gloves will be handy in ensuring the officers keep the virus at bay.

"We have today tasked our officers with enforcing the law on orders which include quarantine and isolation in this war which faces an increased risk of exposure on the coronavirus and by issuing them with Personal Protective Equipment, they will be able to be free from risks,’’ he said.

Speaking to People Daily at the Kitale Police Divisional Headquarters after donating part of the consignment, he said the countrywide exercise is aimed at ensuring the officers who comprise 102, 000 members of the Sacco are protected from the global pandemic.

He further said the Sacco has reduced interests on loans to enable members meet their financial obligations.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Gitonga welcomed the donation saying it will be useful to police officers who traverse all environments in discharging their mandate.

“We appreciate the kind gesture by the Sacco through the donation of the equipment since this will be very instrumental in curbing the spread of the virus which knows no boundaries,” said Mr. Gitonga.

He advised members of the Public to immediately dispose of any used PPE in safety ways to prevent cross-contamination.
