Security officers in Nyamache sub-county, Kisii county have intensified night patrols to curb rising insecurity and the fight against illicit brews.

Deputy County Commissioner, Joash Abongo has asked residents to cooperate with police officers to identify suspects for arrest and prosecution. He deplored an incident where attackers raided a home, killed one Julian Kerubo and injured Sharon Orenge in Masige West ward, terming it unacceptable.

The Commissioner noted DNA samples have been taken from the deceased and those of the accused to help in investigations into the heinous crime.

Support police

“The accused were arraigned. I urge residents with more information to avail it to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers to hasten investigations,” Abongo said.

He assured family members that justice will prevail, saying that the samples will be tested at the Government Chemist and urged locals to support police officers arrest suspects to end insecurity in the area.

Speaking at Omosaria market during a public meeting organised by the local MCA Jacob Bagaka, the DCC said action will be taken against chiefs and police officers who abet crime.

“We will weed out rogue members of community policing and replace them with honest ones to patrol the area,” said Abongo.
