Rift Valley community is free to vote in whichever way, stop forcing them into some direction – Gideon Moi
KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has warned those threatening people living in the Rift valley region to vote in a certain way of stern action against them.
Speaking in Chaka, Kieni constituency in Nyeri county where he had attended a church fundraiser, Moi said that every Kenyan has a right to live anywhere in the country without fear.
He said those threatening people should be aware that in this day and age you cannot threaten anyone and get away with it.
"Those days of threatening people are gone. At this time, there is no person who should threaten you and think he can get away with it. Everybody has a right to be in any place in this republic," he said.
Moi also said that he's going to be speaking about more of the action to be taken when he tours the Rift valley where threats have been issued insisting that Riftvalley is not anyone's political bedroom as it has people with different political persuasions.
"Hiyo maneno nitasema pale maneno inaanzanga, na msifikiri bonde la ufa ndio kwamba ni bedroom ya mtu mmoja hapana, bonde la ufa ni ya kila mtu na bonde la ufa liko na watu wake, watu wa pande hii, na pande hii na hiyo yote mtaona tukiendelea on how to prosecute our affairs," he said.
He added that people will take responsibility for their actions and utterances individually irrespective of who they are.
On political coalitions and formations, the Baringo Senator said that they are in one Kenya Alliance and that they are going to involve all people and Central Kenya is welcome to join.
He termed it as a coalition of ideas aimed at promoting cohesion and prosperity.
"You will be receiving the invitations shortly because it's a combination of ideas, a movement of ideas. We want a just Kenya and an inclusive Kenya and a prosperous Kenya."
The KANU supremo defended president Kenyatta's development record and urged the people of Mt Kenya region to support him.
Area Member of Parliament Kanini Kega who hosted Moi also challenged One Kenya Alliance to have a Mt. Kenya representative on the table.
"We are happy you have started the One Kenya Alliance but it is incomplete, without Mt Kenya in that table it's incomplete. we are demanding that in the next meeting you will be having there has to be a representation of Mt. Kenya on that table."Kanini said.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga who was present said that the region is working towards unity citing the Meru meeting that brought together Mt. Kenya leaders yesterday.
" All we want is unity and to speak in one voice as the people of Mt. Kenya region," Kahiga said.
Baringo County Member of Parliament Gladwell Cheruiyot who had accompanied Senator Moi urged the people of Mt Kenya to accord respect to the president the same way they respected retired President late Daniel Arap Moi.
"Mlituchungia mzee Moi hadi akastaafu, mimi ninashangaa mama ambaye anajua kulea mtoto wa mwingine lakini wake hajui kulea.Mlijua kulea Moi, Uhuru mbona hamjui kumlea. Hakuna mtoto ambaye ako bora kuliko mtoto wako,"Cheruiyot said.
