Program to open up roads in Thika starts

A program to rehabilitate poor road networks has commenced in Thika, Kiambu County to open up the remote areas.

Most roads in the entire constituency have been dilapidated over the years with residents in some sections claiming to have been abandoned in matters development.

However, the narrative now seems to be changing after most of the impassable roads were put under the rehabilitation program that has been distributed across the entire constituency.

Under the stewardship of area MP Patrick Wainaina, most of the roads that had earlier occasioned protests from furious residents have started gaining a new look.

Among them are Githima - Komo Shopping center road whose rehabilitation is ongoing and is expected, upon completion to ease movement of residents and goods in the area.

Others are Karibaribi Kwaheri - Bawani road which is undergoing grading and widening to required standard.

Also in the program is rehabilitation works of the road starting from Zen Petrol Station (Garissa road) to Watoto Wenye Nguvu Children's Home in Ngoliba ward.

“We will continue to push for better roads in Thika Town Constituency as this is the surest way of opening up the economy of the area,” he said.

Under the program, Wainaina has also initiated the back filling of Magogoni culvert in an effort to make Matathia bridge usable to the residents.
