Interior Ministry PS Karanja Kibicho has set the record straight on murmurs that he is training his guns at the Kirinyaga county gubernatorial seat in the upcoming 2022 general elections.

Speaking to Kirinyaga residents in Kandongu Mwea West, the PS made it clear that he is not interested in being the county boss.

Kibicho said that he is only concerned about ensuring that there is peace and stability as the nation prepares for 2022 polls.

"I am not interested in competing with Wangui Ngirici in the upcoming general Elections, I want to fulfill my responsibility as the permanent secretary of Interior to ensure that there is peace in the nation," he said.

Kibicho also added that he will not tolerate Kirinyaga leaders who intend to cause chaos during Mashujaa day celebrations, set to be held in the county, at the Wang'uru Stadium on October 20, 2021.

"I have allowed you (residents) to heckle any one who is planning to disturb the peace during the national celebrations," he added.

During the meeting, Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici, a perceived political nemesis of the permanent secretary, announced that they had decided to bury the hatchet and were keen at forging a way forward.

Kibicho also revealed that he accepted to hold a meeting with business mogul Andrew Ngirici, the spouse to Kirinyaga woman representative, in a bid to foster unity and peace during, and after the Mashujaa day celebrations.

The meeting, between Kibicho and Andrew Ngirici, was convened in Kagio, few days before another peace meeting next week on Tuesday September 14. The meeting, purposely organized due to the upcoming Mashujaa day celebrations, is set to bring together next elected and grassroot leaders in Kirinyaga.
