Samboja in ambitious programme to nurture talented young artistes

Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has embarked on an ambitious programme to nurture upcoming and talented artistes in the county.

Speaking during the official launch of the second edition of Talanta Mashinani Festivals in Mwatate CDF Hall, Samboja said his administration will closely work with artistes to ensure success.

The County boss called on the youth to showcase their talents during the auditions at the grassroots. The finals will be held in late December.

He announced that he would support the performing artistes with a personal donation of Sh800,000 for video production adding that prizes worth Sh2 million would be up for grabs during the finals.

“We will have seven individual and three group categories. Each winner will pocket Sh100, 000, second runners-up will win Sh60,000 while the third will take home Sh30, 000,” he added.

Governor reiterated that his administration would work with other partners to support and promote talents.

Executive Committee Member in-charge of  Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services Laban Mwashighadi said his department is committed to supporting different talents in the county.

Rumba legend Freshley Mwamburi of the hit song Stella, rocked the crowd of revellers.

He performed Stella and Watu ni Roho that left the crowd demanding for more.

On the other hand, singer Nyota Ndogo challenged the upcoming artistes to work hard and hone their creativity skills.

“As much as you engage in music, you should also have other money generating activities to boost your incomes,” said the Watu na Viatu hit maker.

Present were Ashock Anand, Milele FM presenter Alex Mwakideu, Radio Maisha presenter Emanuel Mwashumbe, Maria movie actress Brigit Shighadi, political advisor Bigvai Mwailemi, Ward Reps and  Ward Administrators, among other dignitaries.
