The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road for seven days, starting next week.

The affected area is the Mombasa-bound carriageway at the lmaara Mall (Tuff Steel) Junction along Mombasa Road (A8) Highway.

Mombasa road closure period

The closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 25, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. and will continue until Sunday, December 31, 2023, at 4:00 a.m.

During this period, two lanes will be closed to facilitate excavation and the installation of a cross culvert along the affected section. Traffic diversion will be implemented near the Tegla Loroupe Road.

In a statement, KeNHA emphasized that the closure aims to minimize disruption and will only affect two out of the four lanes.

Motorists are advised to use the two Mombasa-bound lanes during this period and exercise caution in the construction zone.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be closure of a section of the Mombasa bound carriageway at lmaara Mall (Tuff Steel) Junction along Mombasa Road (A8) Highway," KENHA said in a statement.

"The closure will commence on Monday, December 25, 2023 at 9.00 pm to Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 4.00 am. This is to allow for the excavation and installation of a cross culvert along the section," the statement revealed.
