ODM leader Raila Odinga joined the family of late Narok politician and Cabinet Minister William Ole Ntimama in sending off their matriarch Dorcas Ntimama.

In his tribute to Dorcas who passed away in June 26, Raila said Ntimama's widow was the bedrock of her husband's politics.

"She was the bedrock of her husband’s politics and matriarch to the Maa," Raila said during the funeral ceremony held on Saturday, July 10.

The former Prime Minister also praised Mama Dorcas for her role in educating the Maasai community adding, "Dorcas championed Maa culture and promoted the education of girls. May she rest in peace."

The funeral was also attended by Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai, his Kajiado Counterpart Joseph Ole Lenku, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Environment Minister Keriako Tobiko.

On Tuesday, Nitimama's daughter Lydia Ntimama said there would be no politics during the funeral.

Lydia said her mother,85, who passed away at a Nairobi hospital was religious and a lot of politics during her burial would not appease her memory.

“My mother was a prayerful person, there is no need of spoiling her burial with too much politics. We need to give her the decent send-off that she deserves,” Lydia said.

Addressing journalists, Lydia further described her mother as a prayerful woman who spent her time praying for Kenya, her husband and family.

“My mother was a prayerful person, there is no need of spoiling her burial with too much politics. We need to give her the decent send-off that she deserves,” she said.

Ntimama, a former powerful minister during the Moi era died in September 2016.
