UDA to oppose Finance Bill introducing new taxes
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) now says it will vote against the Finance Bill should it introduce new taxes.
MPs of the party associated with Deputy President William Ruto said they will not support any “anti-hustler” bill in parliament.
Addressing the media after a parliamentary group meeting, Ruto said MPs resolved to resist any further attempts to burden the people of Kenya with unaccountable debt.
“Party members are, therefore, resolved to oppose the proposals in the Finance Bill to tax poor people.
The UDA, as a matter of policy, is categorically opposed to anti-Hustler fiscal measures and the sort of predatory taxation, or the use of national revenues to sponsor unconscionable profligacy,” stated the MPs.
The MPs expressed grave concern over attempts by government to increase the national debt ceiling in order to extend the cover for reckless expenditures and the wanton siphoning of public resources that continue to disgust and nauseate Kenyans.
“This unprecedented profligacy has become the intolerable monument of the Handshake Era,” the legislators said.
They said they will be participating vigorously in parliamentary business that will generate pro Hustler measures and policies to address the urgent problems of the majority
