Ugandan teen confesses to killing her infant

An 18-year-old Ugandan national shocked an Eldoret court as she confessed how she killed her six year old baby boy in an attempt to free herself from the burden of taking care of the child.

Babra Mutenyo narrated to the court how she strangled her son to death, then wrapped his body in a gunny bag before dumping it in a well.

“It is true I killed my son who was by then aged six months, wrapped his body in a gunny bag and dumped it in a well as I was unable to take care of the child on my own,” she told the court.
Looked disturbed

The accused, who looked disturbed in the dock, claimed that prior to committing the alleged offence; she was under extreme depression, stress abandonment and fear.

The court heard that after committing the heinous act, she went underground for three days to evade arrest from the police who were hot on her heels after being alerted about the incident by locals.

She later resurfaced and walked to a nearby police station where she confessed to the killing of her son.
The accused was defending herself before Justice Reuben Nyakundi in a case where she is charged with killing her son Junior Nesero Butsetse.

Mutenyo is said to have committed the alleged offence on October 28, 2023 at Kabogo area in Kapseret sub county, Uasin Gishu county.
