South Sudanese midfielder Mousa Saad has sealed his deal with FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards.

AFC Leopards have announced that the midfielder has signed a new one-year contract ahead of the new season.

He is the second player to extend his contract at the club this month. Goalkeeper Maxwell Muchesia also agreed to an extension, with the club awarding him a new three-year contract.

"South Sudan International Mousa Saad has renewed his contract with AFC Leopards for one more year," reads a confirmation statement from the club.

The midfielder joined Leopards from Thika United in 2018 and says he extended his contract because he feels obligated to the club. He is eager to repay the club's trust in him.

"I'm happy to extend my stay. I feel indebted to the club for being accommodative and patient with me throughout the period I have been around. It's my time to repay the club for the faith they've had in me," Saad revealed.

Saad, who has dual citizenship from South Sudan and Kenya, began his professional career with Nairobi City Stars, where he made 24 appearances. He later moved to Thika United, where he made 63 appearances.

AFC Leopards signed Saad in June 2018, along with Said Tsuma and Eugene Mukangula. He was 20 years old at the time and signed a four-year contract.

The player had trials with Spanish club Velez in September 2019, but the move did not go through.

The midfield is part of the AFC Leopards squad preparing for their off-season tournament, Elijah Lidonde Memorial Cup, which is organized to honour AFC Leopards' legends who have died in recent years.

The tournament will have FKF Premier League runners-up Kakamega Homeboyz, Nzoia Sugar and Vihiga United.

The four-team tournament will be played at Bukhungu Stadium and will run between July 9 and 10.

A draw will be made for the semi-final pairings with winners of the two opening encounters set to meet in the final, while the losers will clash in a third-place play-off.

The winner is expected to pocket 1 Million shillings.
