Kenya international Tylor Ongwae who plays professional basketball for Denmark’s top flight record title holders Bakken Bears has extended his stay at the club for another year.

The small forward has been with the Danish side for the last two seasons,  helping them win their 15th and 16th league titles in the two seasons he has been with the Arhaus-based club.

Bakken Bears had,  in the 2019/20 season of the FIBA Europe Cup, reached the semi-final and had a date with Bahcesehir Koleji on March 25 with a return match scheduled for April 1.

However,  the season was cut short after the covid-19 outbreak with its return uncertain.

“This is going to be my third year here.  I like it at Bakken and that is why I chose to extend my stay.  After the season is over,  maybe we can talk about my next move.

In addition to winning another title with the team, we got to the semi finals of FIBA Europe Cup but now we can not play because of the virus. It leaves the questions of ‘what I?’,” said Ongwae.

Placed in group H at the start of the Europe Cup,  Bakken Bears ammased 11 points to finish top of the group and advance to the second round where they ranked second.

The team beat Tsmoki Minsk home and away in the playoff quarters to book a slot in the now postponed semifinal.

FIBA Europe board, on March 12, decided to suspend indefinitely and without resuming until the end of the current club season all games of the competitions organised by FIBA Europe which include the EuroLeague Women, EuroCup Women and FIBA Europe Cup.

Based on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic,  a final decision on the status of the 2019/20 edition of said competitions will be made.
