Key Gor Mahia trio to miss Bandari date

Gor Mahia will be without three key players as they prepare to face Bandari FC in the upcoming FKF Premier League match this Saturday.

Coach Johnathan McKinstry confirmed that John Macharia will miss the trip to Mombasa due to illness, stating that he has been unable to train with the squad and is currently on medication.

"John (Macharia) has been dealing with illness this week. He experienced vomiting earlier in the week and hasn't fully recovered. He's currently on medication, so unfortunately, he won't be able to train or play at the moment," McKinstry said in an interview with Gor Mahia TV.

McKinstry mentioned that Patrick Kaddu is nearing the end of his rehabilitation process after suffering an injury a few weeks ago.

However, Emery Bayisenge is expected to be sidelined for a while due to a quad muscle injury sustained during the FKF Cup match against Denmark.

"Patrick Kaddu is in the final stages of his hamstring rehab, while Emery Bayisenge suffered a quad muscle tweak in our match against Denmark in the Cup in Ukunda. His recovery will take a couple of weeks," McKinstry elaborated.

Despite the absences, McKinstry expressed confidence in the squad's depth and the players who will be available for the match against Bandari FC.

Gor Mahia at Mbaraki

In a separate development, Bandari FC will need to find an alternative venue for their matches as Mbaraki Stadium is set to undergo renovations for six months.

The closure will affect not only Bandari FC but also other teams such as Mombasa Elite, Mombasa Stars, and Congo Boys, who have frequently used the stadium for their matches.
