Reigning East Africa and current national league champions, Kenya Police Service, emerged victorious in the fourth edition of the Kabadii President’s Cup, while the Administration Police Service (AP) ladies’ team replicated their success in the women’s category.

Speaking after the championships held on Wednesday at the National Youth Service (NYS) headquarters in Nairobi, competitions manager Perpetual Muthoni expressed confidence in how the relatively lesser-known sport has evolved.

“We are doing great things and am glad to say that Kabadi is slowly being appreciated by all and sundry as an alternative sport to the main ones such as football, running, boxing among others.

This Championships has been one of the toughest that we have organized as we conclude our year, meaning that our athletes are getting better by the day,” said Muthoni, who also serves as an Athletics Kenya (AK) national youth team coach.

Fresh from their victory in the Inter-Service Kabadii 2023 Championships in May at the General Service Unit (GSU) in Ruaraka, where they defeated their rivals, AP men’s team, the National Police Service unit continued their men’s dominance but faced a challenge in the women’s category, where AP showcased their prowess.
