Great Rift Valley Golf Club’s Jastas Madoya.

Great Rift Valley Golf Club’s Jastas Madoya is now aiming for a top 10 placing at the Magical Kenya Open scheduled for November 12-15 at the Karen Country Club.

Prior to the March event that was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Naivasha-based golfer had set his sights on bettering his 2019 performance to a top 20 finish.

However, he now says the top ten is within reach as he has had more time to prepare.

“After the event was cancelled, I took a month-long break before going back to the course.

I have been practicing daily since and I feel better prepared than I was in March.

That has given me the confidence to aim for a top ten finish,” Madoya said.

The 33-year-old played in last year’s Open as it was making its debut in the European Tour.

He made the cut, for the first time in his three years at the Open, at level par and went on to finish tied in 72nd place, returning a score of five over par 289.

Madoya remains unmoved by current restrictions that have seen golf competitions stopped and most club’s open to members only.

“Lack of competition will in no way affect how I play.  We had a tournament hosted at Vet Lab about two weeks ago and from my game then, I can tell I am playing better, my swing has improved and Karen should present no big challenges even if I do not get a chance to play there before the Open,” said Madoya.
