After a two-year break a lot of pulsating action was witnessed on Friday across different venues in Nairobi as the much-anticipated Regional Term Two Games finally made a comeback.

Various secondary schools in the city took part in the coveted three-day competition for a chance to secure a slot in next month’s National Term Two Games to be hosted at Nakuru City.

In the boys’ basketball category, Pumwani High School stunned Highway High School 111-56 in a rather dull Pool D match that failed to live up to the expectation of the many fans who had gathered to watch the two schools fight it out at the Upper Hill School, Nairobi.

Pumwani who will be looking to make a name for themselves in this competition drew he first blood with an 11-3 win in the first quarter before easily securing the second quarter with an emphatic 17-9 win to lead going to the first-half break.

Well organised defence

Upon returning from the breather, a rejuvenated Highway came in the second half gun-blazing but their efforts were thwarted by a well-organised defence that saw them go down 17-37.

Pumwani commonly known as ‘Pumu’ ensured they carried the day’s victory by clinching the fourth quarter with a resounding 46-27 victory to see them move a step closer to the next round of the tourney today.

In other matches, Nairobi giants UpperHill who will be looking forward to dethroning Dagoretti, began their campaign by thrashing newbies Kayole South 52-11 in their Group B match staged at the same venue.

The hosts made their intentions clear early after piping Kayole 11-1 and 12-3 in the first and second quarters respectively before proceeding to humiliate them 18-1 and 11-6 in the third and fourth quarters to carry the day.

Meanwhile, Langata High School registered mixed results after winning 81- 10 while playing against St Teresa’s then went ahead and lost 36-46 while battling against Jamhuri High School. Elsewhere, Lenana School struggled to beat Genesis 15- 25.
