Serani Secondary School reigned in boys’ football to retain the Mombasa County Secondary Schools’ football title at the St. Charles Secondary School grounds in Changamwe, Mombasa County.

The boys, under the tutelage of coach Swale Abdalla alias ‘Coach Sunda’, humiliated Changamwe Secondary School by 3-0 goals in finals to win their third consecutive title they have retained since 2021.

“Our focus is on the next assignment, we are confident that we will sail to national games, we are asking our opponents to brace for a tough duel because we are treating every match like finals,” said Abdalla.

Hamis Nyale, Salim Ali and Athman Kibwana scored one goal each for the coast giants who have now tightened their boots to defend their Coast region crown.

Both Serani and Changamwe teams had met in the group stages with Serani emerging victorious after a 5-0 win and they are expected to renew their unending rivalry again at the regional level.

According to Abdalla, the 2022 coast champions have set their eyes on the national title after a bad footing in the 2022 games. He expressed confidence that his charges have sealed the loopholes that saw them face early elimination in the national games last year.

“Last year we played well, but my boys were eliminated early, almost all my boys who played in the nationals are still with us, so this time, let our opponents prepare for a tough competition,” said Abdalla.

In Taita Taveta County, Dr. Aggrey Secondary School are another force to reckon with after emerging as the Taita Taveta County football champions.

In the regionall ballg games, Dr. Aggrey  will now be required to prepare for tough duels against other representatives in coast football.

Kwale Kombani Secondary School became the new 2023 Kwale football champions, in the girl’s category, during the games that ended over the weekend. Kombani Obliterated Mkwakwani 13-0 to secure their regional games slot.

In the boys’ category, Shimba Hills booked their ticket after a 3-0 win against Kaya Tiwi Secondary School. Kwale will now be represented by Kaya Tiwi and Shimba Hills in boys’ football at the coast regional games.

In Kilifi, a new county champion dubbed Vitengeni Baptist were born after eliminating Malindi Boys High School by 1-0 goals in the county games. The debutants proceeded to regional games with hopes to set a mark when they battle renowned giants like Serani high school.
