Tusker bound Kibwana elated at player of the month award
Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Shami Mwinyi Kibwana is delighted after scooping the player of the month of July award after his heroics in the just concluded FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) with the Kakamega-based outfit.
In an interview with People Daily Digital Kibwana was professional dedicating his award to his teammates for their collective effort to perform better in each and every game.
“I'm delighted and feeling tremendously blissful, but I know it's a collective effort from the team that has pushed me this far," Kibwana said.
Kibwana has been impressive for the Kakamega-based side, scooping four consecutive Man-of-the-Match awards before going on to score seven goals in a span of four games.
The talented forward believes it's just the beginning of greater things ahead, as he eyes to move to Tusker FC next season.
‘’My target is to don the national jersey colours and hopefully play in one of the top leagues in Europe and if I dedicate more time to what I love doing then nothing can stop me from achieving that goal,’’ a bullish Kibwana said.
The Kakamega Homeboyz talisman was also in sensational form in the month of June, finding the back of the net eight times in six league outings that his side featured in. His team won five of the six matches.
He began the month with a brace against Ulinzi Stars. He then set up the other goal for his captain Allan Wanga as Homeboyz edged the Soldiers 3-1 in Nakuru, before going on to score a brace in the 4-2 win over Mathare United at the same venue.
The former Thika United KCB and AFC Leopards player has been rumoured to be on the move to newly crowned KPL champions Tusker FC due to his heroics for the Kakamega based team and the striker cannot wait to put pen to paper
Kibwana beat two other contestants to bag the monthly award that comes in handy with a Sh. 50,000 token and a personalized trophy courtesy of FKF Premier League.
Kariobangi Sharks’ Erick Kapaito who was equally in great form that month came in second while KCB’s David Simiyu finished third.
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti was also named the July FKF-PL coach of the month.
