FKF Premier League side Tusker FC have appointed George Maina, a former player, to replace Charles Okere who was recently named Harambee Starlets head coach.

The soft-spoken tactician could not hide his joy after his appointment stating it was great to be back home and work with Robert Matano whom he greatly respects.

Maina served as the head coach at the National Division One side Naivas FC and now returns toTusker where he worked in the same capacity in 2013.

“Tusker is like home to me because I have been here for many years as a player and as a coach. I am glad to be back.

When Coach Matano asked whether I could come work with him, I could not say no.

I have worked with him before and he has coached me as a player and he is a person I highly respect,” said Maina.

Matano said his new assistant will aid in clinching more trophies for the club.

Tusker currently lead the league with 36 points, six more above second-placed KCB with 30 points

“We have worked together for a long time and when the opportunity arose to have him back, I did not hesitate to ask him to join us. Hopefully we will win more trophies together,” said Matano.

Tusker’s chairman Daniel Aduda exeduded immense confidence in Maina’s appointment.

“Maina is a club legend having achieved so much at Tusker both as a player and as a coach.
