Twenty-five goals, four shy of week one goalfest,  were scored in matchday two of the FKF Women’s Premier League as Gaspo Women, Trans Nzoia Falcons and Vihiga Queens maintained a perfect start with convincing victories.

Building on a 6-0 week one victory over Kisumu All Starlets, Gaspo inspired by Mercy Airo’s brace overpowered Kayole Starlets 5-0 to record their second straight win to maintain their grip on the top of the league table standings with six points.

Trans Nzoia Falcons and former champions Vihiga Queens also beat Kangemi Starlets and Ulinzi Starlets 3-1 and 2-0 respectively to win their second wins.

Wadadai, Ulinzi Starlets, and defending champions Thika Queens who had a great start to the season stumbled in week two, losing 3-0 to Nakuru Queens, 2-0 to Vihiga Queens and 2-1 to Bunyore Starlets in that order.

Girls panicked

On the other hand, Zetech Sparks, Nakuru City Queens, and newcomers Bunyore Starlets bounced back from week one defeats to beat Kisumu All Starlets 6-2, Wadadai 3-0 and Thika Queens 2-1.

“The win against defending champions Thika Queens is a big morale booster to Bunyore Starlets FC.

In our first game against Wadadi my girls panicked, but now we’ve worked on their mental preparedness,” Bunyore Starlets CEO Zacharia Amakhang’a told People Sport.

Kangemi Starlets, Kayole Starlets, and Kisumu All Starlets are the three teams that are yet to win a match.
