Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana yesterday demanded to be involved in negotiations to bring back Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to the Azimio coalition.

Kibwana (pictured) claimed Wiper Party had resolved to rejoin the coalition led by Raila Odinga. The party left on May 16 after Raila picked Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua as his running mate.

Kalonzo, who had demanded the number two slot, was instead promised the chief minister post if the coalition wins the next election.

“Finally Wiper has decided to join AZIMIO where Kamba Nation is domiciled about 2 months to elections. Dialogue with AZIMIO’s leadership must involve those of us who have been selling Azimio in the region; those who did the heavy lifting, and Wiper. Fairness/decency are virtues,” said the Governor who was recently picked to lead Raila’s presidential campaigns in the region.

The party is still awaiting Kalonzo’s decision after its aspirants voted in favour of his return during a meeting in Athi River on Monday.

Kalonzo, who had asked for a week “to mute and reflect on the weighty matters” after quitting Azimio, is out of the country.

Kibwana’s sentiments intensified the wind of political confusion in Ukambani region after key leaders took different political directions barely three months to the General Election.

After Kalonzo dramatically withdrew from Azimio, Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kibwana reaffirmed their resolve to stay.

Ngilu has offered herself as the perfect candidate for the chief minister’s post if the Wiper leader rejects it.

“I have not asked for any single position since I joined Azimio. I know the power of a chief ninister in a government, who on earth can decline such a position and opt to perish in opposition?” she asked.
