Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition has changed tact to appeal to the youthful population ahead of the August 9 general election.

Firimbi Movement

The coalition, led by its leaders Raila Odinga and Martha Karua, launched "Firimbi Movement" in Nakuru on July 28 meant to rally the youth to come out on the voting day.

“We have returned to Nakuru. This rally is different from the previous ones. We have come to make a Nakuru declaration.

“We are launching the ‘Firimbi Movement'. It will be in two parts, one to alert people against the corrupt and a clarion call to people to come out and vote," Raila said.

While addressing a political rally in Kerugoya on Monday, August 1, Raila emphasised that the movement will be used as a unifying tool.

“On August 9, the clarion call that will sound across the nation will be 'firimbis' to remind every voter to come out and exercise their constitutional right. It will also be a unifying call to action,” he said.

Jeshi la Baba

Jeshi la Baba song has featured prominently in Azimio rallies, taking clout from the famous Rero ni rero that the coalition has been using since last year.

The song is meant to appeal to the youth who form a large percentage of those attending political rallies today.

The leading presidential candidates have been making promises to win the votes of over eight million people who are below the age of 35 years.
