Cotu secretary-general Francis Atwoli says there won't be a re-run in the August presidential elections and that Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja team will register a straight win.

Speaking in Kakamega during Azimio la Umoja Western chapter consultative meeting, Atwoli said that the movement will win the elections in the first round.

He said that the August election is a moment for ODM leader Raila Odinga adding that Deputy President William Ruto will never be the president of Kenya.

"I want to tell you this; we will not have a re-run in the elections. I have heard our competitors say they will win the election... who do you think they will defeat in the election?" Atwoli posed.

"I said in 2014 that William Ruto will never be the president and I have no apologies for that. It is not a matter of if or in the event he becomes, he will not be the president," he added.

Atwoli claimed that Ruto does not have enough numbers to clinch the presidency claiming that the DP is only using camera tricks to lie to people that he can pull large crowds in his rallies.

He further claimed that the union between Ruto and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi will not yield anything at the ballot noting that Western Kenya is Azimio la Umoja's stronghold.

"I want everyone to understand that the whole of Western Kenya is behind the Azimio. You can see the crowd we have here is larger than that which Ruto pulled in Kiambu and Kirinyaga over the weekend," Atwoli said.

The controversial trade unionist further asked the people of Western Kenya to turn out in large numbers to register as voters in order to ensure they beat their opponents in the upcoming polls.
