DP allies now respond after Uhuru extends BBI team term
Deputy President William Ruto and other political leaders have welcomed the extension of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force, saying it had done a good job.
The leaders said the task force would greatly help hasten the implementation of the BBI recommendations.
In particular, the Deputy President said the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta was commendable, noting that it would bring Kenyans together in the implementation of the report.
Speaking in Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia counties Friday, Ruto said since there were no contentious issues in the report, there was need to accelerate the implementation of the report to pave way for implementation of development projects.
Others were Governors Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu) and Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Caleb Kositany (Soy) and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
"What is left for the task force is to come up with ways of implementing the report within the shortest time possible to pave way for Kenyans to concentrate on their development activities,” said Dr Ruto.
Ruto said the Government was committed to the initiation of development projects across the country.
The Deputy President said Jubilee would continue with its efforts of uniting the country.
“We have said 'No' to politics of division and hatred. This is why in 2013 we resolved as Jubilee to unite the country,” said Ruto.
Among the areas the Deputy President addressed wananchi included Kitale Township, Trans Nzoia County, after opening a building belonging to matatu touts association in the area.
He also spoke in Ziwa and Kaplamai grounds in Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia Counties respectively.
Kositany said MPs from Rift Valley would support the recommendations in the BBI report.
He was optimistic that the extension of the term of BBI team will not result in major changes in the report.
Sudi said the report should also address policy issues that affect farmers especially prices or their commodities.
“We have gone through the BBI report and have agreed that it is a very good report and we will support it,” said Sudi.
