Boost as elders root for Eldas MP Adan Keynan’s re-election
Eldas MP Adan Keynan has received a major boost for his re-election campaign after elders asked his rival Ahmed Boray Arale to step down in his favour.
The move, the elders said will bring unity and harmony among communities in Eldas constituency.
The decision to have Ahmed Boray Arale shelve his 2022 parliamentary ambitions in support of Keynan arrived after elders held a two-day retreat and lengthy consultation in Eldas town.
By unanimous decision by the delegation of over 200 members of the Jiro sub-clan, the elders voiced their support for Keynan, whom they said, was practical and shrewd, especially as the region realigns itself to pursue a collective cause for transformation.
In a statement to newsrooms on Monday, the leaders voiced their support for Keynan, who doubles up as the Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Secretary, saying the clan had been keenly following the state of political affairs in the area and that their support for the incumbent will continue to influence positive change for the people of Eldas to realised more development in the future.
“As a clan, we have asked Ahmed Boray Arale, whom we endorsed in 2017, to step down and instead support Keynan, whom we applaud for attaining visible scores for development in our region,” the statement read in part.
The statement went on: “On the same breath, We also ask the Jiro community and the entire Eldas population to support a progressive cause for development through electing leaders who have shown a genuine interest in serving the community.”
“We are contented that the outcome of our decision is ultimately the voice and choice of the vast population of the people of Eldas who have greatly benefited from Keynan’s transformative leadership in all sectors of the economy.
“We must speak with firmness and finality to shape the future of our people and the entire community as we face the pre-election and post-election season,” they said.
The clan appealed to the communities living in the larger Wajir county and particularly Eldas to vote for good leaders to realise a steady push for development in the region.
They further thanked their son, Ahmed Buray, for respecting the decision and promising to abide by it.
