Homa Bay woman representative seat aspirant Molline Ngala speaks in Kanyadoto in Ndhiwa constituency on April 23,2022.

The race for Homa Bay county Woman Representative seat now has one more contender, bringing to three the key aspirants. This follows the entry of Moline Ngala as an independent.

Ms Ngala recently said she had resigned from ODM and would contest on her own after the Orange party’s tribunal upheld the nomination of former Kisumu Roads executive Joyce Osogo.

Ngala is among five aspirants for the position who disputed the ODM primaries. In the results, Osogo garnered 16,888 votes against ex-Homa Bay Energy executive Beatrice Ogola (15,415). Ngala was third with 11,045 votes. Others were former members of County Public Service Florence Ouma, Lavender Ojala and Sheryl Ayieko.

“ODM tribunal approved the wrong winner. I will run as independent,” Ngala said.

Speaking in Homa Bay town at the weekend, she said Osogo’s victory was predetermined.

Ngala and Ogola had sought redress from the tribunal and wanted the results annulled.

They accused ODM National Elections Board (NEB) officials of failure to give Homa Bay residents accurate results after the nominations on April 14.

Ngala will now face off with Osogo and Mary Ojode (Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K). The current Woman  Rep is Gladys Wanga, who was handed a direct ODM ticket for the Homa Bay governor battle.
