Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has on Tuesday November 9, 2021 avowed his support for Raila Odinga's strategic plan dubbed Azimio La Umoja, that seeks to unite Kenyans beyond the 2022 general elections.

Kivutha claims that Raila's economic ideologies are in tandem with the economic model that his Muungano party champions for.

The county chief has promised to attend Raila's Azimio La Kenya event, that is set to bring together leaders drawn from the South Eastern Kenya bloc.

While confirming his attendance, the two-term governor stated that it is high time leaders shared and digested ideas that will save the country.

"Raila Odinga has invited me to the forthcoming South Eastern Kenya bloc AzimioLaKenya event. I purpose to attend. This is the time to share and digest ideas which will save our country. Like Muungano Party, ODM subscribes to the UTU economic model," he posted.

Kivutha's approval of Raila's economic approach adds more heat to the already heated and complicated political matrix in the Ukambani region.

The region's governors (Kivutha Kibwana, Alfred Mutua and Charity Ngilu) have since distanced themselves from the presidential aspirations of the community's long-standing kingpin, Kalonzo Musyoka.

The county heads have umpteenth times stated that time is nigh to chart a new path for the community, since Kalonzo has failed to deliver as the region's leader.
