PNU, Ubuntu to sign first pre-election deal with ODM during Raila’s Azimio la Umoja event

A section of Mt Kenya governors is expected to sign a pre-election deal with Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement ahead of 2022 general elections.

According to a reliable source, PNU party that is controlled by Mount Kenya Foundation leaders and Ubuntu led by Kinyanjui will announce a pre-election deal with Odinga during the much-anticipated Azimio la Umoja meeting slated for Friday, December 10 at Kasarani stadium.

The governors led by Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru and his Laikipia counterpart Nderitu Mureithi who recently joined PNU will lead other leaders from Mt Kenya in signing the pact.

Other governors who will also be part of the deal include Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) and James Nyoro (Kiambu).

The revelation comes days after the governors said that they were in talks with other political parties and would soon announce a joint coalition ahead of the 2022 general elections.

At the time, they revealed that they were working on an alliance with like-minded political parties ahead of the polls.

The four governors have been instrumental in ODM leaders' campaigns in Central Kenya.

Muriithi and Kinyanjui advocated civil and issue-based campaigns to eliminate ethnic hatred and violence.

During the Friday event, Raila is also expected to host a group of politicians from across the political divide including his competitors in One Kenya Alliance (OKA.
