Deputy President William Ruto has lambasted leaders behind the recent stoning of Wanjigi's convoy in Migori county.

While pushing for tolerance as the country enters a season of high-octane politics, Ruto termed the chaos meted on the businessman turned politician as primitive political tactics.

He accused leaders from the Nyanza region of using youths to cause chaos in a bid to ring fence their bastion from encroachment of their political opponents.

Ruto who was speaking in Kakamega on Saturday September 18, asked the leaders to help youths land job opportunities rather than use them to disrupt political rallies of their opponents.

"We advocate for peaceful campaigns in this country. It is primitive and backward for any leader to organize thuggery and hooliganism using the young people of Kenya. The young people of Kenya want jobs, they want to do business, they want to run their enterprises. You cannot misuse them to throw stones so that you can protect your turfs as politicians. We warn those politicians that their time is up," he said.

Ruto's vicious attack at the unnamed politicians comes in the backdrop of chaotic scenes witnessed at a Wanjigi stopover in Migori on Friday September 17.

Pockets of rowdy youths pelted the ODM aspirant's convoy as he attempted to sell his 2022 agenda. Wanjigi was forced to cut short his speech as the charged group threw more stones, almost hitting him as he addressed a crowd from his vehicle's sunroof.
