Covid-19: Positivity rate at 10.6 per cent as 287 test positive

Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 287 more cases of Covid-19 from a total samples size of 2,699 that were tested in the last 24 hours. This represents a positivity rate of 10.6 per cent.

These new cases bring the total positive cases confirmed in the country to 182,884 while the total samples tested shoots to 1,945,736.

On a positive note, 152 people have been discharged from the hospital after being given a clean bill of health. 68 of them were discharged from various health facilities while 84 were under home based and isolation care.

The total number of recoveries in the country now stands at 124,588 of whom 90, 074 were from home-based care and isolation program while 35,514 are from various health facilities.

Sadly, 17 more patients have succumbed to the disease. The deaths were reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of April, May and June.

The total number of fatalities now stand at 3,612.

1,062 patients have been admitted to various health facilities over Covid-19 as of the Monday update while 6,730 patients are under home-based isolation and care program.

101 patients are in ICU, 33 of whom are on ventilatory support and 45 on supplemental oxygen. 23 other patients are under observation.

116 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 102 of them in general wards and 14 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases were distributed in the counties as follow; Nairobi has 95 new cases Kajiado 56, Kisii 35, Siaya 17, Homa Bay 17, Kakamega 13, Bungoma 11, Busia 9, Uasin Gishu 9, Nakuru 7, Garissa 6, Vihiga 4, Kiambu 3, Migori 2, Nyeri 1, Embu 1 and Kirinyaga 1.

In terms of vaccination, a total of 1,293,004 people have so far been vaccinated across the country. Of these, the total first doses are 1,003,204 while the second doses are 289,800.
