Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.

AFCON

The 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament comes to a close today when the winner will be crowned.

The final match will see Nigeria battle with Ivory Coast for the continental trophy at 11:00 EAT.

On Saturday, South Africa won the third place in the tourney after beating DR Congo on penalties after the match ended in a barren draw.

South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams saved two penalties during a shoot-out, earning the Bafana Bafanas the win.

EPL

Two matches will be played in the English Premier League with West Ham United hosting Arsenal while Aston Villa will play against Manchester United at Villa Park.

KPL

Talanta FC will play against Sofapaka in the Kenya Premier League opening match on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

In the other matches to be played at 3:00 pm, Shabana will face Tusker, AFC Leopards against Murang'a SEAL and Muhoroni Youth against Kariobangi Sharks.

Power outage

Kenya Power on Saturday announced planned power interruptions scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Counties that will be affected include Nairobi, Machakos, and Kiambu.

In Nairobi, the power outage will affect areas such as Parklands, Commercial Street and Landi Mawe.

Parts of Parklands that will be affected include 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 5th Parklands, part of Limuru Road, Swaminarayan Temple, Batubatu Road, Acculaser Institute, Agakhan Hospital, Avenue Hospital, City Park estate and adjacent customers.

The areas mentioned will be affected from 9 am to 5 pm.

Areas that will be affected in Commercial Street include Dunga Road, Dunga Close, Manchester Outfitters, Ministry of Water, Ministry of Public Works, KEMSA, Mecol, Welfast, NITA, Commercial Street, Bunyala Road, Carbacid Gases, Baricho Road, Bungoma Road, CFF Ministry, Chinese Construction Co., Wiru Road, Carrefour, Toyota Kenya, Highway Mall, DHL, G4S, Mantrack Caterpillar and adjacent customers.

The aforementioned areas will go without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.

Parts of Landi Mawe that will go without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm include Lusaka Road, Opposite City Stadium, Factory Street, Kenya Post &, Pemba Street, General Industries, Yoga House, Part of Unga, Landi Mawe, Rocky Driving School, Kenya Railways, Numerical, Workshop Road and adjacent customers.

In Machakos county, the power outage will affect areas such as Mlolongo Town, KPLC office Mlolongo, Signature Mall, Athi 55 and adjacent customers.

Other areas that will be affected in the county include Kay Quarry, Kenya Builders, EPCO, Bizrock, Hyoung, Aristocrats, Veevee Quarry, WAKS, Bluestone, Silverstone, Suraya, SS Mehta, Shajanand, Superson, Katani Shopping, Kambi, China WU YI, Rhombus, DM Concrete, part of Mlolo`ngo, Karsa,m Ramji, Halai, National Concrete and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu, areas that will be affected by the scheduled blackout include Kiambu Town, Githunguri Town, Ting'ang'a, Ndumberi, Karuri, Banana, Kiambaa, Muchatha, Kanunga, Kamiti Corner, Njathaini Road, Edenville, Mugumo, Kiamumbi, Kirigiti, Riabai, Kiambu High, Kirima Tent, Kambaa, Kagwe, Gitwe, Ikinu, Githiga, Gathaithi, Githunguri Town, Norbrook, ACME, Kentemere, Maramba, Ngorongo Tea Factories, Kambaa, Kagwe and adjacent customers.

The areas will be affected from 8 am to 10 am.
