Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.

AFCON

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) knockout matches will continue today, which will see some African football giants exit the tourney.

Equatorial Guinea will play against Guinea at 8:00 pm while African champions Egypt will play against DR Congo at 11:00 pm.

Power interruptions

At least four counties will experience power outages on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Nairobim parts of Karen will experience power outages including Dagorelli Road, Warai North, Warai South, Pepo Lane, Three Dee Lane, Windy Ridge, Miotoni West, Nandi Road, World Vision, St Christopher's, Montessori Centre, Part of Karen Shopping Centre, Karen Police Station, Karen The Hub, Tree Lane, Westwood Park, Mwitu Estate, Mwitu Drive, Mwitu Road, Ololua Close, Kerarapon Road, Ngong View Estate, Eagle Church, Total Petrol Station and Shell Petrol Station, Kerarapon and adjacent customers.

In Kajiado, part of Ngong Town, Kibiko, Ngong Sub-County Headquarters, Gicgagi, Bishops House, Traffic Police College, Olemotent Road, Baboon Crescent Road, Kimuka Centre, Oloshobor, Kajiado West Polytechnic, Kimuka Olomaroroi, Suswa road, Saikeri Shopping Centre and adjacent customers will experience power outages on Sunday.

In Machakos, Daystar University, Stoni Athi, Prayer Center, Kyumvi Market, Bhachu Industries and adjacent customers will have power interruptions.

Areas that will experience power outages along Mombasa Road include Brava Foods, Swara Acacia Lodge, Small World Country Club, Kusyombunguo, Game Ranch and adjacent customers.

In Lukenya, EPZ Police and adjacent customers will experience power interruptions on Sunday.

In Nyeri County, Witemere, Blue Valley, PGH Nyeri, Kungu Maitu Hotel, Naivas Supermarket, Samrat Supermarket, Diana Centre, Nyamachaki Church, Asian Qtrs, National Bank Nyeri, Central Bank Nyeri, Family Bank, Governor's Office and adjacent customers will have power outages on Sunday.
