Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has said it will give 24,000 litres of government hand sanitisers to the National Youth Council to be distributed for free to vulnerable members of society as the war against Covid-19 continues.

Announcing this at a ceremony to hand over hand sanitisers and masks to boda boda riders in KICC Nairobi, Petroleum and Mining Cabinet secretary John Munyes said  KPC had mobilised players from the private and public sectors to produce the free hand sanitisers to protect citizens from coronavirus.

“I commend KPC for a job well done in mobilising resources to fight Covid-19 on behalf of government.

It is also gratifying to see here today that the boda boda riders are part of the strategy to stop this disease.

This is an amazing partnership because with the countrywide boda boda network, our message will reach millions of Kenyans,” said Munyes.

His ICT  counterpart Joe Mucheru, who was the chief guest during the ceremony, said  the youth must be at the forefront in the Covid-19 war if we are to succeed as a nation.

“The boda boda network is a very strong link in the fight against coronavirus and that is why as a ministry in charge of youth, we have mooted this partnership through NYC to ensure the safety of our youthful riders and their customers” Mucheru told participants.

KPC managing director Macharia Irungu thanked partners who have supported the firm and by extension the government in fighting the virus.

“I want to thank companies that have partnered with us  such as Total, Vivo, Ola, KenolKobil, Sepyana, Pwani Oil, East African Breweries, Bollore Logistics, Maersk Kenya, BAT, just to mention a few,” Irungu said.
