Miguna warns Itumbi of imminent repercussions if he lied to court in Ruto assassination plot case
Firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna has warned Former State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi of imminent repercussions if he indeed lied to the court in the Ruto assassination plot case.
Itumbi has been facing a criminal charge over a fake letter, that the prosecution believes he authored, alleging a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto. The said letter alleged that state mandarins met at the La Mada Hotel to plot about eliminating DP Ruto.
Milimani chief magistrate Martha Mutuku on Wednesday September 22, 2021 placed Itumbi and his co-accused Samuel Gateri on his defence after the prosecution proved its case against them.
Miguna, in a reply to a tweet by the self-proclaimed hustler nation spokesman, advised Itumbi against appealing the decision by the Milimani Law court.
In his tweet, Itumbi had indicated that he was in agreement by the resolve of his lawyers to appeal the decision by the magistrate. He said that the presiding magistrate, in her ruling, drew credence from laws that had already been declared unconstitutional by the High Court.
"I agree with my lawyers. We shall appeal, How do we go to our defence on laws already declared unconstitutional by the High Court?" he posed.
However, Miguna opines that the communications expert should not consider appealing the decision if he possesses concrete evidence that can prove that a plot was actually hatched to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
In his tweet, the Canada-based lawyer advised Itumbi to avoid technical copouts and face his challenges head-on. He further urged the blogger to use the open court platform to broadcast the audio evidence from the said meeting, that he has for a long time claimed to have.
Miguna was quick to mention that the blogger should be ready to fall on his sword if he has been lying about having video and audio evidence that could prove the alleged assassination plot.
