Four politicians from across the political divide are being monitored secretly by detectives attached to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) in relation to crimes of hate speech, ethnic contempt, incitement to violence and disobedience to the laws of Kenya.

NCIC commissioner Dorcas Kedogo said the commission had embarked on countrywide engagements targeting the political class to foster peace among all communities in the country.

Kedogo said the commission was working with other agencies in closely monitoring political gatherings to ensure there were no tensions arising out of careless talks.

Speaking to the People Daily in a Kitale Hotel after a sensitization forum with religious and other leaders from nongovernmental organizations, she said the commission shall ensure all those flouting rules are brought to book.

On the Building Bridges Initiative, commissioner Kedogo asked politicians to let Kenyans read the report and be able to make their own informed decisions instead of dividing Kenyans.
