They say your life completely changes after getting married to the love of your life!

It tends to become boring, gloomy and family-centred, that the couple that was once in love doesn’t feel like they are even together anymore.

Constantly, hemmed in by society or by in-laws, their spark seems to have gotten lost somewhere!

So in this month of love, what do you plan to do with your loved one to keep the fire burning in your relationship? Are you settling for the good old flowers, dinner or a night out somewhere?

Well, Valentine’s Day isn’t limited to flowers, romantic dinner and a movie.

Experts on relationship matters, key personalities in the entertainment industry are holding special love fests on the Valentine’s Day weekend that are designed to help couples connect.

From racy comedy shows, talks, to sensual dinners, the events promise to bring together couple of all ages and who are different stages of dating and marriage.

Spice it up

Barnabas Achoki and his wife Grace through their marriage ministry, TwoShips Solutions have organised a dinner event at Biblica, State House Road where they will get to talk to couples on the importance of spicing their marriage, and the benefits that come with it.

“The problem with today’s generation is that they want to invest so much on their careers that they forget to create a balance for their relationship.

It is sad because after retirement, spouses become complete strangers and that breaks most families,” he says.

He says reigniting the spark should be a couple’s main agenda as once it is lost the duo starts drifting apart.

The event promises to have loads of fun as couples play couple games and dance the the night away with an end goal of adding some fun and excitement in their marriage just like spices add extra aroma and taste to food.

“Couples need to know that just like food without spices is not appealing, so are relationships without fun,” he offers.

“Couples we have coached say the last time they ever had a dance together was during their wedding, which might have probably happened a decade ago. This is such a big deal because they have just lost each other,” says Achoki.

With several years of experience in relationship coaching on his collar, Achoki says one thing that remains constant among couples they have interacted with in his field of work look for excitement from their spouses.

Grace highlights that the most depressing thing after retirement is going back to a stranger, and not just an ordinary stranger, but someone you were once in fell in love with. She says creating games, as will be demonstrated at their event will help couple interact and bond.

Also, she notes that couples reliving their  honey moon stage helps them learn to be  intimate with each other.

The vent will be a blend of both the young and old in marriage. “Who said you are too old to dance? One thing that couples need to know is that there is no better way to dance than to do it with your partner.

Dine with the Murayas

Celebrity couple gospel deejay Samuel Muraya, aka DJ Mo, and his singer wife Linet Masiro Munyali aka Size 8 will be hosting a red carpet affair dubbed Dine with the Murayas at the Emory hotel. Charges for the event are Sh7,000 per couple and VIP Sh10,000 per couple.

Speaking to Fusion, Size 8 said the event will be a great platform to share their marriage story including the ups and downs as well as am open mic for couples to share their marriage experiences.

“Valentines is all about love, it’s all about getting to know what love is and how to grow together in love. This event will be a great way to show love to your partner,” said Lynnet.

Keynote speakers will be Internet sensation Pastor Susan Munene, who popularised the ‘Twa Twa’ euphemism for intercourse and her husband Joseph Munene who will give tips on how to love one’s partner and also how grow intimacy in marriage.

Their package will include a four-course dinner, play games galore with partners and dances, all of which will emphasise spicing relationships.
