New FKF Premier League boys are without a win despite major signings
Football Kenya Federation Premier League newcomers Kenya Police FC are yet to find their rhythm despite massive signings as the new season enters the third round.
Police have no points and no goals in two matches which has sent tongues wagging even though it is still early days.
Four weeks after losing 1-0 to Kakamega Homeboyz, Police, under John Bobby Ogola, lost 2-0 Saturday to Nairobi City Stars at Ruaraka Grounds.
Police, who won the premier league promotion play-off against Vihiga United last month, brought in big names like Ex-Gor Mahia winger Clifton Miheso, former AFC Leopards attacker John Mark Makwatta, former Leopards captain Duncan Otieno and Ex-Gor skipper Musa Mohammed.
With these signings, Police are expected to mount a challenge for the title but the team might take time to adjust to the big time.
Meanwhile, Bandari FC are still continuing their fine run in the season just like they ended the last.
The current League leaders top the standings with six points off two matches with six goals in the process.
Bandari last Friday beat Bidco United 3-2 in Thika with coach Andre Casa Mbungo keen to make headway in the championship early enough.
Struggles continue
New signings Whyvone Isuza formerly of Wazito, Rogers Aloro formerly of Tusker FC and Joseph Okoth who was snapped from KCB FC have made an impact and given the long serving players a run for their money.
Mbungo has a good challenge of a big and talented squad that can give him a shot at the title.
The revitalisation of John Mwita and Ugandan striker Umaru Kasumbba has given the technical bench huge options with dangermen William Wadri and Hassan Abdallah offering bite to the Dockers this season as well.
Kakamega Homeboyz also have six points in the bag albeit with a low score rate.
Out of two matches, Bernard Mwalala’s side have only managed two goals after they beat Wazito 1-0 in a tight match on Sunday with the lone goal coming through George Odiwuor’s 47th minute penalty.
Gor Mahia who face archrivals AFC Leopards Wednesday in this season’s first installment of Mashemeji Derby are seventh with only one match played due to CAF engagements.
Defending champions Tucker, who have seen their Thursday match with Kakamega Homeboyz postponed due to their forthcoming return leg of CAF Champions League preliminary match with Zamalek, are 16th.
Mathare United are bottom of the standings with no win as their struggles continue in the new season.
